If the goal is to actually slow down, The Standard is one of my favorite places to do it.
Tucked away on Belle Isle, it feels removed from the energy of South Beach even though you’re still right in the middle of Miami Beach. The property is known for its spa and hydrotherapy amenities, including a hammam, sauna, steam room, plunge experiences and waterfront pool.
The Standard also offers weekday day passes based on availability, making it an easy option when you want the resort experience without booking a hotel room.
Best for: A spa day, girls’ day or much-needed midweek reset.
1 Hotel South Beach
There’s something about walking into 1 Hotel that immediately makes it feel like vacation.
For an easy afternoon, head upstairs to Watr at the 1 Rooftop. Located 18 stories above South Beach, it has ocean views, cocktails and Japanese-inspired food in a relaxed rooftop setting.
It’s one of those Miami spots that works just as well for lunch in the sun as it does for drinks as the sun starts to go down.
Best for: Rooftop drinks, lunch with a view or showing out-of-town guests why living in Miami is pretty hard to beat.
Faena Miami Beach
If you want your local staycation to feel a little more over-the-top, go to Faena.
Between the instantly recognizable red-and-white umbrellas, beachfront setting and signature Miami style, spending an afternoon here feels like you’ve gone somewhere much farther away.
Non-hotel guests can also reserve beach chaise lounges and daybeds based on availability, so you don’t necessarily need to be staying at the hotel to enjoy a day on the sand.
Best for: A special occasion, luxurious beach day or when you just feel like treating yourself.
The Miami Beach EDITION
The EDITION is another Miami Beach favorite that makes it easy to forget you’re only a short drive from home.
The property has direct beach access, lush outdoor spaces, pools, restaurants and plenty of places to settle in for the afternoon.
For locals who want to make the staycation lifestyle a more regular thing, the hotel also offers an annual Beach Club membership with access to the beach, pools, hotel amenities and member benefits.
Best for: Locals who want the Miami resort experience on repeat.
Eden Roc Miami Beach
For a classic Miami Beach pool day, Eden Roc is always worth remembering.
The resort has three pools along with beach and poolside daybeds and cabanas. Visitors who aren’t staying overnight can also purchase resort day passes, making it one of the easier options for turning a normal Saturday into a vacation day.
Grab a chair, order something cold and stay awhile.
Best for: Pool days, beach days and an easy Miami staycation without committing to an overnight stay.
